Ship Collisions Case
As a case study, there are 11k worlds in the Imperium. I estimate an IN fleet of 12 ships per system over 1k dtons. That’s about 150,000 hulls. The ISS has an equivalent number of hulls in active service, but 90% of those are under 1k dtons. The ISS has an equal number of ships “on loan” to retired personnel. Adding diplomatic ships and such the entire Imperium controls roughly one million hulls. Let’s say the total other shipping is 10x but probably more than 80% are under 1k dtons. At most a system probably would have less than 5,000 ships at any given time. There are approximately 500,000 aircraft on earth today but less than 60 air collisions annually for 38,000,000 registered flights. Using that math there are less than 5,000 collisions in the entire Imperium annually. That’s less than one per system per year.
That’s just spitballing with 10 searches on Kagi in about an hour.
